I have been doing a lot of reading and can't find anything about leveling my truck. i have i-beam 4x4, so do just need coil spacers? would i need new shocks?
any and all advice is appreciated,

you can use coil spaces for a small lift yes and no i dont think you need new shocks.... Redneckstone has is 93 lifted with spacers so hopefully hell give his real life experience with it

I'm not sure if it is common knowledge around here like it is over at explorerforum but the stock spring seats out of an early 90s f150 are a perfect 1-1/4" spring spacer/seat. I had them on for a while before I went bigger. Do a search for the partnumber, you can pick them up at your local ford dealership for under $50 for the set I think. One thing no one has mentioned yetis that your alignment will be off and you will most likely need higher degree caster/camber bushings. This will add about $100 to a standard alignment, but you can guess and install them yourself ahead of time to save the labor. These are about $15 per side at your local parts store. Probably the biggest ones they stock or 1 step down...I think like 2 degree should work.

I was shopping around a little and it seems that coil spacers are going to run me about $300 cdn ... a little on the high side for me!! But I like the idea of new springs ... especially if they are going to be cheaper then the spacers and will give me a better ride.
I ran new springs on my 97' and got new shocks only because the top stud broke off when I tried to remove the nut, and they were from 1997. I spent $70 on the alignment which used 2.25 degree cams. Total was around $260 US for all of the parts and I was happy with the outcome.
installed about 3 coil spacers. honestly i would recommended lift coils. and new longer shocks.. the coils are 10x faster to install... and the stud extenders i dont trust.. i did longer grade 10 bolts.. man was that a *****...

i would get two 2.50º cams or something close to that.
leveling coils and 2" lift shocks are the way i would go, i have coil spacers and i don't like em.
but i think i have the wrong ones, oh well they will get replaced sooner or later when i do the SAS.
i had one of my stud extenders break when i was installing it, but i made two that are 10x stronger out of nuts, bolts, chopsaw and a welder.
i would get two 2.50º cams or something close to that.

sad thing is, thats only a 1" spacer in that picture.
oh, about the shocks cole posted from summit, i wouldn't go with a hydraulic shock, i would go with a gas shock, preferably skyjacker.

I have the cheap coil spacer lift on my TIB. Dpending on your work speed, it could take a couple hours just to do that. Get large inside and outside diameter washers (1-1/8" ID minimum) and do the lift that way. They work fine, and never had any problems. Since you have a 4.0L, you are able to fit about 1" - 1.5" of spacer to get a 2-3" front lift...at this height, there should be no camber adjustment for you and you won't need an alignment.
However, replacement lift coils for about $120 shipped is "better." Depends...

But overall, I understand what you are trying to say...if you change the height, the camber changes. But you, the user, is to stay away from vast amounts of correction. The spacer lift is to be within reason...if you stay within 1.5" of lift, the camber is negliable and you barely change within the required degree change. You return to the original height of the vehicle...
If his springs are saggy (which they tend to do over time and use...especially with a decade-old truck), chances are that he ALREADY HAS SLIGHT NEGATIVE CAMBER...(leaning in towards the top)...
Obviously if you go an put 3" of spacer in there, you are going to have problems.
What's the difference between adding washers or adding FORD FACTORY or aftermarket spacers? Nothing at all...
Also, you obviously cannot go more than about 1.75" of spacer since you run out of thread on the bolt for the retaining nut on the upper seat of the spring.
Besides 04_Edge, how would you even know? ASE certified? Who cares...unless you have worked on a TIB and actually done this, you can't talk. I have, and it fixed my saggy springs. It's an I-beam, not the IFS you have on your truck. I have a 1997 4.0L as well...
Your track record for information is not the best on these forums...have a seat and sit this one out...

The Pro Comp shocks are fine...you will not need new shocks with spacers. You will be fine with 2" lift coils and the same shocks. If are not offroading anything hardcore where you will require major articulation with...
you are wrong, if he lifts the truck with coils or coil spacers he will need an alignment, look at the picture of my truck with JUST a 1" spacer and tell me that looks "correct".
