No rear only and if it does have a L/S in the front, it doesn't do a whole lot, many one wheel burnouts up front for me.

Torsen limited slip on the Level 2's in the rear only. Now that there is no Level 2 its an option in the FX4 in the rear only. Rangers never had any option or anything for the front diff.

I think that non level 2 FX4s have the standard Ford limited slip.

No front as it's a safety issue as it's a reason why Ford discontinued it many years ago with it's F-150's.

With a live front axle, you would not even want l/s in the front for daily driving.

so why dont they call it a 4x3 since usually only 3 wheels are putting the power to the ground?

A limited slip on the front would soon wear out because when you are turning corners one wheel is always rolling faster than the other and it would be fighting to keep both tires turning the same speed.

oh....well our stock axle parts are kinda weak, so that may be another reason why not to l/s or lock a stock DD ranger front axle. idk

Limited slip in the front isnt so bad, my buddy welded his front Diff and rear on an old F series with a 460 in it. It was hard core off roading. Nothin it couldnt handle. Broke alot of **** on it though

That's exactly what the rear L/S does too. And it's the reason clutch type limited slips wear out so fast.

A L/S in the front will give you a heavy self-centering feeling to the steering. At least, that's what it did on my '91. Fortunately, the '91 had the ability to unlock the front hubs, something the newer 4x4 Ranger's can't do. Of, course the air locker would be a solution to that.
