Loose steering 1998 2wd

Hi all, after new shocks, ball joints, upper control arms, rack and pinion, tie rod ends, inners were on the new r&p unit, and new tires with balance, I had an alignment done. When going down the highway (55-65mph) I have some annoying play. It seems like the steering wheel has to be turned 5-6 degrees to keep the ranger fairly straight. The catch is, it’s not always towards the left sometimes it has to be to the right in about the same degree. With the wheel in the straight alignment, it sometimes feels fine but there is about a 10 degree play. The only thing that isn’t new is the steering column. Is there any chance that there is worn bushings or something that is causing this? It seemed tight when the R&P unit was disconnected for the swap. The connection seems to be tight. The only things that have not been done is in the steering column or torque on the spindle bearings. The rotors feel fine and there is no odd brake wear or sounds that you would hear with a loose bearing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
