RCD vs. SuperLift
I am making this thread as a guide for people who are considering and RCD or super lift lift kit. (STICKY?)
Please do not post if you have some thing bad to say.
i will add to this post as i see fit with your answers.
Here is the pro/con list between the RCD and Superlift.
RCD $2300.00
PROS:
replaces the stock torsion bars with coilovers
uses AAL and shackle in rear
uses 1 piece cross-members
with kit maxed the cv angles are perfeclty horozontal ie. stronger
CONS:
Higher cost more complex installation, requires welding.
coil overs have been known to sag
Superlift $1500.00
PROS:
No welding required
CONS:
torsion bars are relocated and retained
uses blocks w/ the stock blocks
if torsion bars are cranked cv angles look like \ ____ / which makes them weaker.
multi piece crossmembers

RCD uses AAL and shackle in rear. superlift uses blocks
both kits need some sort of front DS attention. RCD includes a spacer, SL sells a complete double cardan DS.
both kits are well designed and engineered from what i have seen. both are well built, jus cater to different tastes in styles of lift.
who decides what is a pro/con? some people might prefer the factory ride quality/torsion bars no matter where they are relocated...

If calculations are right, deaver f31 + RCD shackle - OEM blocks = RCD ride height with OEM blocks + RCD AAL.
Pros:
-possible elimination of axle wrap by deleting lift blocks
-smoother ride than the stiffness of an AAL
-more articulation for off-road use.
-Deaver leaves can be custom built for needs
-purported better build quality than SL leaf packs
Cons:
-cost a little more than superlift leaf pack
-i'm picking my nose at work while typing this on break

i would prefer the Skyjacker 6" springs and NO block and STOCK shackle for a full 4" lift in the rear.......that is what i am running on my 6" Superlift lift kit and the front and rear is perfectly level.....since the rear takes less lift to achieve a 6" lift than the front, i could remove my stock block and run the stock shackle in the rear......if i ever decide to go to the 8" springs for the front i will just add a Chevy shackle in the rear...

Skyjacker 6" springs with no blocks and stock coils......made my 6" lift really worth its while.....Skyjacker says the 6" springs and the stock block for the 8" kit.....
if you are talking about the 8" coils, because it involves more than just coils.....gotta also use a modified Superlift SuperRunner steering to get the steering right or the truck will have bumpsteer from hell....
