offroading.. hmm its addicting none the less. if you have a LS in the back you can do pretty good after all everyone who offroads at all will say everything is alot more fun when your in 2wd. you might not be able to keep up to where some 4wds are but once the bug bites you your gonna keep modding and modding.

ohh umm. Really you only need bigger tires and lift.

If you want to get fancy you can get a locker for the rear. And you're basically set.

I guess you could search "lift" or something like that, and you'd find people's threads where they asked the same question as you.

Limited Slip Diff. Different Gear Ratio (Example from 3.75 to 4.56)
Definitly Shocks cause youll blow stock ones dang near first day.
Tires (Most use BFG KO AT's around 31x11.50x15's ) and a minimum of 3 inches in the front only. just to lvl it out somewhat. if the back is still a lil lower than slap a block in there to lift it about 1 or 2. and after all that you should be able to tackle all kinds of fun stuff worry free. only problem is. Worry free ISNT FREE. lol

Start by finding some easy trails or areas to take your truck on and see how it does. Then you will have a better idea as far as what you will need (parts wise and whatnot) for the kind of offroading you want to do (trails, mud, rocks, little bit of everything, etc). So far I started out with a stock '97 4x4, put on 31" mudders (with cool black rims), disconnected the sway bars, packed some tools and recovery gear and went offroading...

What kind of tires do you have currently? If you have some sort of All-terrain that will work for now until you figure out the kind of offroading you want to do and later on determine if you want to use your same tires or go with some sort of mud-terrain tire.

And the best way to soak up info on Ranger stuff (general, drivetrain, suspension, etc) is to browse through each section and start reading the threads. Hope you have some spare time on your hands
