Pro Comp Spindle vs. Doetsch Tech

I have heard conflicting reports. Some say the spindles themselves are literally identical...and that you wouldn't notice a difference in lift, charactertistics, quality, etc and so on. Others have said that Doetsch tech has lower quality than Pro Comp.

So..before I make the plunge and buy spindles for my EDGE, which one should I get? Also, if I plan on using Deavers for the rear...do I need ONLY the spindles (No kit, small parts or otherwise) for the front? Some websites make it seem as if "the kit" is required nomatter what.

Thanks in advance for your input

? Huh

Deavers are leafs.. For the rear, you dont need anything else.

And the spindles are exactly the same, its not like your going to actually take the truck offroad.

what he means is - is there anything else in a spindle 'kit' that he would need besides the spindles... he doesnt need the blocks and bolts that come with most spindle kits as he is using deavers to lift the rear instead.

spindles are 100% the same....

for deaver you need the springs, u-bolts, and longer shocks would be a smart idea...

If he's going with the "Prerunner" F31 pack then its the same lenght as stock, all that is required is to flip the stock shackles/hanger so that they face up and not down. If he goes with the "LongTravel" F23 pack then longer shackles are required in addition to flipping the shackle/hanger.

I will be going with the Prerunner F31 pack. Will the Deavers come with everything needed for the install? Or will the bushings/bolts be something I need to pick up somewhere?

As for the haters comments about not taking it off-road, I've taken my truck off-road several times...mudding even (My stained engine can attest to it) and I plan on doing light off-roading, just nothing that will beat the truck up. Not to mention I have several hundred pounds of stereo in the cab worth thousands of dollars to worry about....so jumps and the such aren't on the "to-do" list.

So who wants to help me with the install? lol

what should I expect to drop on labor to get spindles and deavers installed?

No. If I were you I'd buy them from Camburg. When I got my F23's they gave me all the bushings, sleeves, U-Bolts, but Kartek and ORW charge and arm and leg for them. I'v spent a bit more there than you, but I still think they come with it. Also, to flip your shackles your going to need 8-1/2"X1 1/2" Grade 8 bolts, nuts, and washers. I'm not sure how high it will sit if you dont flip them, but I'v heard its pretty stink bug ish.

Install will be a few hundered for each, but I'm sure you can find somebody willing to help with it, its not that difficult. You can bribe some of those guys down there with a 12pack maybe...

gbGary was under the impression he used the standard prerunner pack when he lifted his EDGE, and he used Pro Comp spindles and it came out level. I also have a 1.5 inch tbar crank..my truck is already level, so I'm assuming since GbGary didn't do tbar cranking my truck might even be a tad cali lifted (half inch or so).

I don't think he flipped his rear shakcles though. Maybe that did it?

*I just called Camburg and they said if I use the standard prerunner pack I don't need to move shackles or anything and it should give about 2.5 inches of lift for the rear. They quoted $500 for the deavers with the bushings and stuff, but it doesn't come with the bolts. Is that worth it? I've heard you can get them for mid $300's for the springs alone

With the shackles fliped and not moved it will lift the same as the blocks, so your right. With the spindle you should problably leave it alone so that the shackle will lift also.

Yes 500 is a good price. The springs themselves used to be $400 but the price went up quite a bit in April. So figure $450 for the springs $40 for the bushings and $40 for the U-Bolts plus tax, 500 is a good price. Tell them your from Dezertrangers when you go buy them and you'll get 10% off of that, if that discount wasn't already in the price.

You wont need any bolts for it since your not going to flip the shackles.

Depending on when you want to tackel it I might be able to drop by and give you a hand.

If it dont fit...Get a bigger hammer

we installed the deavers "as is". didn't need bushings or new u-bolts. i simply put the deavers on the axle and put the stock block ON TOP of the leafs whick took up the same space/length as they would if they were under. i did get longer than stock rancho 9000s for the rear. summitracing can fix you up if you discribe what you're doing. oh, and i had the fabtech spindles. the others weren't out yet when i did the lift.
