This shouldn't be news to anyone, but if you do a suspension lift (whether torsion bar crank, replacement torsion keys, or full Superlift/Rough Country) you need to get an alignment. However nobody really says WHY you need to do this, aside from "you'll chew through tires faster."
Well I'm here to show you what ACTUALLY happens when you don't take literally everyone's advice and continue to drive without a front end alignment.
That is a <2 year old wheel hub. In case you can't tell what is going on here - the piece in my hand and the round part attached to the truck used to be a single piece of steel. 2 studs are missing and the hub is cracked. Off camera is the brake rotor - also cracked.
This is what happens after 2 years of highway and off-road driving when the camber is negative. This puts excess stress on whatever stud happens to be on the bottom of the wheel, as well as the hub. This is especially bad when driving off-road (or if your city sucks at filling in potholes).
The good news is the brake rotor/caliper will PROBABLY ensure your wheel doesn't come flying off, though it may also seize up and cause you to roll off the freeway. Which isn't much better in the grand scheme of things.
I'd say that has more to do with the wrong back spacing/offset of the rim or using a spacer, then it has to do with an alignment.
For an alignment to do that kind of damage, you would be going through tires every 500 or less miles.
I wish that were the case. No spacers, factory rims, just a whole boat load of camber because of the lift and the aftermarket camber adjustment bolts not being set properly - part of the alignment process.

Yessir, however I went back to stock wheels shortly after because they looked stupid sticking out, and sounded awful rubbing on the fender liner.
Jeez I'm just trying to help people not ruin their trucks and potentially their lives, not sure why you're so insistent on proving me wrong.

I'm just trying to figure out, after the lift, you had an alignment, they say it's perfect.
Now you're telling us your truck broke because the alignment was off.
I'm just easily confused, it was either perfect, or it was off.

A lot of changes happened both before and after that trip to the alignment shop. Though again, I don't understand the point of arguing over whether getting an alignment is a good idea or not. This is the single least productive conversation I have ever had with another human being. If you think alignments are a bad thing, by all means don't get one. I posted this thread to try to help people. I'm not gaining anything by posting this thread, I didn't link to a website for you to buy my merchandise, I get literally nothing. My goal was to help people. That's it. Now I'm unsubscribing from this thread. To anyone who had questions, I'm sorry but I won't see them because this genius wanted to turn this into an argument.
