Icon8 Ranger piece of s*** ball joints

Howdy,

I have a 2007 Ranger XL (...I know, I know) and had to replace my POS upper ball joints at 31,000 miles. I'm now at 46,000 miles and I can hear the damn things making noise again. I talked to another fella who was driving a Ranger Sport that said he's had to replace the things 3 times already. What's UP?!

Anyway, if I'm going to replace these things again, I want it to be for the last time. Can anyone suggest aftermarket parts that might prevent this from happening in the future? I don't have the capability personnally so I would have to provide the shop with the parts and get them to do it.

Any help?

P

Go with the Moog Performer ball joints. You can get them at rockauto.com. I replaced all of mine on my 01, they are good, they are greasable and highly recommended by others. The upper ball joints are attached to the upper control arms, so you will have to get the whole set but it is definitly worth it.

What brand did you put in? I've got one stock one still going at 92,000km and the other is a Dorman one that I've had no problems with... been in there a year.

I don't even know what brand went in. I had it done in a hurry as I was heading out on a road trip the next day. The shop knew that, I wouldn't be surprised if they used that to their advantage.

Anyway, I'm wondering what other things could be causing the noise? It happens only on low speed and when I'm turning, such as when I pull into a parking lot off the street. The bump of going up the ramp over the sidwalk is enough to give a couple of "klunks" that I can also feel in the steering column.

thoughts?

I've cheaped out on suspension parts and paid for it in the end. I replaced tie rod end with middle of the road part. It failed twice so I got moog. Since it was under parts warranty each time, they upgraded me to moog for no charge. So much better.

Buy moog from rockauto.

I put my lower balljoint in a couple months ago, last week I noticed the boot was ripped and they sent me a new one.

Do you need the receipt to get a new one? I've got all moog as well. Def. recommend them like the others said.

I still have the stock ones on my 07 Sport at 88K miles. Had T bars cranked for most of it's life and have had no issues so far. Thought it might be time to replace but my friend that works at the dealership says there still good. But I agree with everyone else and go with Moog.

I am at 82k on my 09 ranger with all my original suspension parts and i am running 32x11.50 with 15x8 rims with 3.73 offset, and i put allot of miles off the pavement on it to, so i must be lucky. All the other trucks I had, i put moog on and never had to replace them again when i owned the vehicle.

Check to see if you're hitting the turn stops, if so put some neversease on and keep rolling
