Matt your truck looks really good. Glad to see you took your time. Makes people wont one more and more. get it tightened and take some more pics of the finished product.

seed60 10-31-2008 09:40 AM

Thanks.

Yeah, I got everything tightened down, shackle bolts flipped, brake lines tied down, and got the truck to work today for some welding. I busted one of the tie rod ends so I have to fix that now, but other then that everything's good to go.

I took some pics the other day while we were fishing at the lake. I'll get em posted up before long.

i hate you too....god i gota get a lift man

DSFD506 11-01-2008 08:22 AM

Truck looks good...i'll be ready to lift mine once the warranty goes. Quick question on the rotors....can you still use the 12'' rotors or have to get the smaller 11.25'' ones ?

seed60 11-01-2008 09:57 AM

You have to get 02 rotors, 11.25".

I'm guessing this has to do with where the caliper brackets mount ? Thought I read somewhere that they were redesigned for use with the 12'' rotors or was that on the superlift ?

BUMP! Did you ever get shorter U-bolts?

No, I just added some washers. But now that I've got the trac bars I took them off the one side. For the other side I called RCD and got another set of u-bolts nuts with washers. I'm just gonna double up on washers and nuts.

I could fix all that by swapping trac bar brackets with you. But I've been wanting to get a 31-spline and kinda want to hold on to it just in case.

99ranger4x4 11-16-2008 01:22 PM

hey

those are 6" lift springs correct? with the RCD shackle..

can you get me a measurement to the top of the frame that would be easy for both of us to measure? i need to get some new springs..

thanks.

seed60 11-16-2008 01:31 PM

Yeah, 6" springs w/ RCD shackles.

It's 38 1/4" to the flat spot on top of the frame, above where the bump stomp mounts, from the ground.

20 1/2" to the same spot from the top of the axle.

Fx4wannabe01 11-16-2008 09:15 PM

IDK man...you can call a local shop and have ubolts made for pretty cheaplike. IMO....your 'washer stacking' is really sketchy to me.

thank ya much. do they seem to flex nice and easy?

Contact Aaron Dixon at Dixon Bros. Racing (DBR). He has Deaver u-bolts that'll fix the stacked washers (I had to do similar for a while because of my stupid 31 spline rear end).

Rear Shackle bolts....they still gonna hit the trailer hitch flipped around, but not as bad. I got tired of mine smacking and removed my trailer hitch.

I've been contemplating halving my front bump stops, but worry that I'll have metal on metal contact if I do.

Brake lines...might I suggest some braided DOT approved lines from DBR?

Get a stoopidlift front drive shaft, my OEM shaft didn't last long.

I forget which I'm running, but I'd also get some hypercoils. I've either got 650 or 700 lbs coils. When the time comes to get new front coilover shocks, look into a thread over at explorerforums.com, or whatever it's called. Some stoopidlifted exploder guys modded the suspension to take RCD coilover buckets. Some of the guys are running FOX shocks with res's.

Enjoy the kit, I have fun flying over speed bumps and laughing at those that drive over them slowly, at an angle, or around them; ESPECIALLY trucks that do it.

We RCD guys expect pics similar to this once you're dialed in.

When I took the ubolts off to install the trac bars you could see that only about half of the nut was engaged with the threads on the u-bolt. If they would of threaded the ubolt about a 1/2" or so more there would be no problem. But putting the trac bars on fixed up my problem. It's bracket was plenty thick.

Since I've flipped them around they haven't hit yet. But I haven't done anything really crazy yet either. Hopefully they'll stay clear.

Bump stops...yeah, I want some smaller ones already.

The brakelines are braided steel lines that come with the kit. I would hope they're DOT approved. lol

Driveshaft will come in time I'm sure.

I've got that thread in my favorites, it's got some good info. I would love to have a set of those Fox shocks when these wear out, but $$$$. I'll probably just get some 750 hypercoils, who knows.

So far I love the kit. It rides great and will let me do everything I want for the most part.
