i have been reading through all the RCD write ups, and now its time to show em all to the rents and try and get it as a graduation present..

anyways, im in a suspension class at Austin Community College, the classes ar dirt cheap since im still in High school. and my teacher said we could install a suspension lift in class, and it would be cool...

so heres my question, to everyone that has done one, how long does it take? i will have access to a full tool room with virtually any tool i need, air tools, welders, torches, u name it..

im in the class for 5 hrs once a week.. and im willing to leave my truck there if i have to...

well it took Ranger1 and I about 2 weeks to do his truck but only about 3 days of actually working and of those 3 days at least 2 were spent getting parts/tools or BS'ing

 

so if i have, say...5 guys working at it, and any tools i need/want at my disposal.. should 5 hrs do it?

 

I would allow two full days.

If you work a reg work schedule, do it on friday after you get out of work, saturday all day, and wheel it sunday.

Edit: FWIW, 2 people is enough for a lift.

 

i wouldnt count on it unless there is someone there who has done one before... it is alot of work so you should plan on 2 days

the teacher is the shop foreman at a chevy dealer, and has a race team, sure he may not have done a suspension lift, but atleast hes not clueless right? lol

Yea, I mean, i've done a couple little things that took way longer than expected, then a bl with no air tools in 8hrs...

My spindles took 12 hrs from start to finsih, thats including the trips to stores, food, etc. Work time was probably 6-7hrs.

Also, AAL was crazy, took mine 30 mins, and kevin(kevoo) about 5hrs...






Bottom line, leave yourself enough room. Don't rush. Use the right tools, or don't do it!!! Thats my new motto, tools are everything!!!

 

If you can get two people on the front and one person on the rear, all working with air tools, and all knowing what they're doing, you could probably get it done in 5 hrs. My superlift probably took me a total of 12 hrs. to install, but I was working by myself with no real knowlege of the suspension, and with hand tools. Sometimes I'd spend 20 minutes trying to break a single bolt loose!

 

took me 7hrs for the RCD.. me and a friend. lift, air tools, knowledge... reason it took so long is that the nuts, bolts and crap are poorly labled.. that and there is a alot of drilling holes and i had a dull bit.. bit is the main reason it took so long

 

aight, well

it will probably take 3 weeks ( 3 classes) we have to get a lecture for like an hr and a half, so that leaves 3.5 hrs to work a day.. and we dont too much, either

ill do it while my lisence is suspended so im not missing out on much

 

It would take a professional approx. 12hrs to install this kit, with welding, and alignment afterwards.

 

welllllll......to be honest with you i dont think the RCD will fit on your truck.....because the RCD was designed for the "live" axle front ends on the 2000 or 2001 + Rangers.....your truck has the Pulse Vaccum Hubs.......the only 2 suspension lifts on the market for your truck is Superlift and TrailMaster.......

unless you plan on repacing your whole front end....it wont work...

 

It took me 2 days to do my Superlift and that was me by myself and air....give yourself plenty of time, make sure you have all the tools you need, and don't be in a big hurry, do it right the first time and don't cut corners.

 

i think it can be done in 1 day.

also it wont work on your truck you need the live axles.
