on a 2006 ranger, the track width is 1.2" difference front to rear.

ok i got my **** together,know what i want, and almost have a game plan drawn up for the swap but now i got one question that i wasnt thinkin bout and maybe this is a stupid question,... is there a speed sensor or whatever the hell its called on the stock rear axle of a 2000 ford ranger? if switchin to a full width 9 will this screw with my speedo or anything else electrical? how to fix? i really dont know **** about this particular part and havent seen anything about it,just a random question popped in my head and i was wondering!!!!!!! and remember theres no such things as stupid questions, just stupid people

is it an auto? I think at some year they went over to using the speed sensor on the trans to run the speedo..
easy way to find out, pull the wire off the sensor on the rear axle and see if your speedo goes away.

i can guarantee you mine was on the rear axle and its a manual.. its all in the year i think.. Autos are off the trans, badkarma has an auto and his works, Zachs works, both of them are newer though.
the explorer t-case i now have has a speed sensor on the t-case though, I'm going to try and splice the wires from the rear axle into it and see what happens.

"all ford HP dana 44s have the wedges welded on.. except not the 78/79..."
the preferred axle is a 77(disc and weld on wedges), good luck finding one though.
