Shock bolt

Hey guys i was installing new shocks on the rear of my 2000 and stripped the top stud was wondering whhat was the easiest way to replace and fix it?

If you only stripped it at where it tightens up add some washers so nut has good threads to work with.

Replace shock

i got the old shock off but the nut is still on the stud and it is stripped so it wont come off

I used a 5/8" x 4" grade 8 bolt cut down to size and welded it where the old stud was after cutting the old stud off and smoothing it out. Works better than the original and I may do the same to the other side just to make it better also. Really simple repair and it took approx. 30 minutes to complete. Don't forget to paint the new stud to prevent it from rusting and don't forget to use loctite on the grade 8 nut. I also used a 2" zinc plated fender washer in front of the nut to keep the shock on the new stud.
