shocks

noob here, i'd like to raise my truck my final setup would be 4 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift and crank the keys to level it off. however the guy at the shop said to lift any truck even just the keys i would have to replace the shocks right away cause there not long enough if this is true can some one reommend a nice set of fox shox or bilstiens i also heard bilstien stopped making shocks and now there called monroe is this true.

my truck came stock with ranchos and they work fine except for a squeak in the leaf that i'm still fighting ford over, however this guy said that even cranking my t-bars would put the shocks to the limit so they would have no flex so i would have to get longer shocks.

if you are going with a 4in suspension lift, yes you will need new shocks. Your going to gain 4in, which your stock shocks will not be able to cover. The body lift has nothing to do with shock length. As far as cranking your keys, I wouldn't worry about it. I ran my truck cranked with stock shocks for years with no problems.

EDIT...also your only lift kit options are 4in from superlift if this is for your 00. So your kit comes with shocks anyway.

i would like to get the 4 inch kit from super lift but the guy i'm going through here in canada only deals with ready lift and they only offer a 2.25 inch lift kit so i'm going to have to find a way to ge that kit from the states i guess. as for the body lift i'm just planning on grabbing a cheapy off of ebay.

well ready lift is just torsion keys if I remember. So your not gaining a whole lot. I ran
33's on my truck with a 3in body lift and torsion crank. Your only true suspension lift OPTION is a Superlift 4in kit, or a DBR long travel kit.
