Shoud I do it?
Shoud I do it?
Heres my dilemma. I really want to install a body lift on my truck because I want to run 33 inch tires. I really like the look, and I want to get into offroading more with it. The problem is I got a 3.0 with 3.73 gears, and I cannot afford to regear. Do you guys think I should go for it, or dont you think its worth it without regearing?
Maybe not that long, just get enough extra money for a regear too.
I plan on lifting my truck too, but I want to regear at the same time. I plan on a 6 inch suspension with 33's.

Not really....^^
Um i run 3.73 w/32's (4.0 Auto)...As soon as i pulled out of the shop...It was like i was towing something heavy..>You'll soon get used to it....If I were you......Id just regear first, since you "Might" already have the money for a BL and New tires....use that to regear.
Then later pick you up some tires/wheels and a lift

im running 35's with a 4.0l auto with 4.10's is it slower yes do i care no. i still get up and go when i need to and i still cruise at highway speeds just fine. my old ranger was a 3.0 auto with 4.10's with 33's slower then my 4.0l with 35's but its a truck its not a sports car who cares if you cannot run a fast 1/8 mile with it, its a truck with a lift. plus since i have the larger tires and slower take off i dont spin the tires as much in the rain, i like it... now around corners thats another story
I don't know. I had 3.73s in my 99 (4.0 auto) with 33s and I never thought it was slow. Now having a 3.0 (manual) and 4.10 with 30" tires, I think it'd be about the same (at least in the lower gears). I guess it wouldn't be too bad with 3.73s.
If you want to do lift it and run the bigger tires, I'd say just do it. If after you feel like it's doggish (and it will be slower), you can always save up for the re-gearing. I mean it's not like driving it around with 3.73s is going to hurt anything. It might just be a tad slow. Like Motorcraft said, your lifting a truck, not building a race car. Who cares if it's slow.

I have a 4.0 auto with 3:55's w/ 32" tires. I thouht it would suck, but it's not as bad as I thought. I'd go up to 33" with my gears, ya it'll be slower, but not unbearable. I'll reagear before I got to 35's someday.
