someone please help..

Alright heres the deal Im a real noob when it comes to working on my truck i have a 2004 ranger fx4 v6 4.0 and I went to my local offroad outfitters and they are telling me a lift for it will be around 1700 dollars, what is the cheapest way i could make my truck sit higher cause right now it looks weak and I'm buying some 31 bfg a/t's with some black rock crawlers but with a less expensive lift I could fit bigger tires under there so will someone please help me , thanks a bunch

First off you can fit a 32x11.5R15 tire under there (or comporable 16' rim size) stock with just cranking you torsion bars (t-bars).

As for a lift, your choices are the superlift or RCD for suspension lifts. Each are going to cost you $1500-$2000+ if i remember correctly.
For about $300(?) you can get a 3" body lift.

With the 3" lift 33x12.5R15s will fit very nice

Tell them to show you the law or shut up and put on your Body Lift...

As far as ive seen on this site, nobody has ever had a legal problem with a BL

a body lift has NOTHING to do with the ABS system....NOTHING PERIOD>......they are dumb....go somewhere else....or order the kit from www.summitracing.com and have a couple buddies help you.....PA (Performance Accessories) kits have pretty good instructions in them....

My take on that link- there is no BL law since there is no limit posted. if the ABS thing meant absulotely no mods, how come tire sizes are allowed to increase? That would effect braking more than a BL. I tried to link further into the actual law, but it's gonna take a little time that I don't have.

Back to a BL- less than $300 and a few hours (first time) to do it. Removing is about 2 hours and the kit has a resale value of $100. Its a small risk compared to $1500+ for a suspension lift. you could always undo it. I wouldn't flinch about doing it in that state. Don't ask, don't tell. Thats me though, you have to make your own decisions.
