Spindle Vs. lift

I have no clue what the tire size and bolt pattern have anything to do with eachother, I don't get that part. Wheels/tires are two entirely different things.
look at a pair of 35's on a spindle/body lifted flareside ranger...there is SOOO much room...i'll even post it...which looks bigger dude

Hell even I fit 35x12.50's under my 4x2 Edge w. just the spindle lift & aal's in the rear!
He has a 3" Spindle lift, 3" B/L lift, & a 2" torsion bar crank on 39.5's

The tire size/lug nut spacing was how you can measure the size of something you dont know (tire height) and compare it to something you do know (lug nut spacing) and you can figure it out. How much lift is on the rear? There is nothing different about the rear of an edge and an xlt. So if I do what they have I can put 40s on my xlt, at least in the rear?

IF an edge is 2 inches taller than an xlt, and with a 2 inch crank it is 4 inches taller, but they cant use 3 inch lift coils so it is only 1-2 inches taller than my xlt, and a 3 inch lift spindle is available for both as well as 3 inch body lift so those cancel out. So If I do all that to my xlt, and I can find an extra 2 inches of lift somewhere, I can fit 40s?
edge:
2 inches taller
3 inch body lift
3.5 inch spindles
3 inch tbar crank
= 11.5 inches of lift over your XLT stock.
Enough to fit 40s.
And yes, the rear of an edge and XLT should be different. I'd assume either the difference is made in a spacing block somewhere or the springs themselves.
Also, explain how you measure tire size from a pic using lug nuts. I see no way you could compare two pics when you dont know how far away the pic was taken etc.

I'd recommend not using your measuring system. They put the numbers on the side of tires...and seriously, if you dont have a ruler you're getting a rough estimate. When you're doing these measurement you arent taking into consideration the "squishing" of the tire by the vehicles weight. And the fact that measurements arent always from the same place.

For the pics, you dont have to know how far away it was shot from. Its like when people put a ruler next to an object or when someone puts a coin net to an object so you have a scale. I have a 3 inch lift spindle, 3 inch coil spring lift, 3 inch body lift= 9 inches. Only about 2 inches taller. An if I use a similar two inch lift block in the rear to lift mine like a stock edge, than they can use an addaleaf and shackle, just like I have ( I have all 3, just not on the truck). So the rear is the same. IF they run an addaleaf and shackle or even just an addaleaf and a 4 inch block, its still only about 5-6 inches of lift which I can do with all 3 rear options.

well. I have a 4wd. So to be honest i dont care haha. I'm more or less pissed off they fit the damn tires.
I don't know the XLT 2wd lifts myself. I jus know that the edges have a 4wd type suspension with a few extra inches and it helps out in the end. Maybe you shoulda lift yours a bunch and see haha.

I think I will! I was looking to try and make the drop down brackets from a 4wd ranger lift fit my 2wd to get the extra 3 inches and just have arms and coils made. ITs too easy for them to fit 40s!

I already have a 6 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift. I need to find someone who just has a set of crossmember drop down brackets for the lower control arms, and then either weld new coil buckets down lower or get longer springs and then either make a new upper arm that drops the spindle down or use taller spindles like from an edge. anyone know if the superlift for 4x4 rangers uses taller spindles or an upper arm or combo of both?
Even if you do put that big of a tire on it will rub like crazy when turning or hitting any bumps. Yes it will fit with that much lift but you wont be able to drive it very well.
The superlift uses taller knuckles and if you went that route you would need to put 4x4 hubs in them so they dont fall apart on you. You would be better off selling everything you have and just putting in a solid axle.
