So for the longest time, I've had squeaky upper control arms, and with the Ford Rangers/Mazdas it's a sealed system which means there are no zerk fittings, which unfortunately for me it means you're unable to get grease into there. I've read online people suggesting to use WD-40 which I refused to use because it actually assists in REMOVING grease, which while it may lubricate it temporarily, you are removing the automotive grease which is exactly what we DON'T want! The squeaking progressed and what was once able to be drowned out by the radio got louder and louder forcing my broke *** to think outside of the box.

I crawled under my truck, and had my friend load my suspension and unload it while I watched the suspension move and I came up with a simple idea, something so simple I feel like an idiot for not thinking of it sooner!

The fix is simple, take a syringe, fill it with grease, and try to inject it and work the grease into the upper control arms as best as you can while your partner is loading the suspension and unloading it to attempt to create a vacuum like effect with the seals on the UCAs.

Unfortunately, the squeaking still occurred until a couple days later the squeaking COMPLETELY stopped, even hitting bumps and getting airborn.
I think it just needed some road time to get all the grease inside of the Upper control arms.

However, grease DOES attract dirt, dust, etc and so yes while you are lubricating it, you are introducing contaminants into your upper control arms. This is only a temporary fix in attempt to prolong the life of your upper control arms, not to permanently fix them.

Has anyone tried anything similar or does anyone foresee any problems?

 

Or you can just buy the Moog UCAs that have grease ports.

 

that's the plan when I'm able to afford UCAs, LCAs, etc. I only want to dig into my front suspension once. This is a temporary fix for people who are balling on a budget.

 

Yup, I couldn't drive through the neighborhood without waking the dogs... my 2002 started squeaking and was driving me nuts. I took a couple of cans of CRC White Lithium Grease with the long plastic straw and greased all the motor mounts, control arms, bushings that could possible squeak. It instantly solved the squeaking problem. Been a couple of months now and it's been quieter than a mouse pissin' on cotton.
