COILOVER SWAP

OK DONT THINK I AM CRAZY AND THIS HAS PROBABLY BEEN GONE OVER BEFORE.

CAN YOU REPLACE THE TORSION BARS ON AN 02 4X4 RANGER WITH ADJUSTABLE COILOVERS?

DO YOU GET ANY BETTER FLEX?

WILL THE SHOCK TOWER HOLD THE EXTRA WEIGHT?

WHATS THE BEST COILOVER?

AND CAN I USE THE COILOVERS TO LIFT THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK ANY AT ALL?

SORRY SO MANY QUESTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO FAB WORK IM GOOD WITH IT SUSPENSION WORK NOT SO HOT. THANKS FOR ANY INFO ON THIS.

Yes, you can replace them, but its going to be semi-custom

You should get a little better flex

No, the upper shock mount will not hold the extra weight.

No idea what the best coil-over is

I would NOT use coil overs to lift the truck any more than when your torsion bars are cranked, it's going to put the balljoints in TERRIBLE angles, and kill your CV's as well.

yes it is possible. i have a lift kit from RCD that replaced my torsion bars with coilovers. as far as i know they arent making the kit anymore but you can still find them online. and yes, the upper shock mount is strong enough with a little bracing wich is exactly what the kit came with to mount them to the shock upper shock mount. as far as more flex im not sure because ive never disconected the stabilzer bar.

look at my signature. I have a super lift and did the conversion. I have yet to see this done on a non lifted ranger.

I thought the RCD's came with a new bracket that you weld on, to use as the upper mount for the coil-over?

Oh ok. Well I was semi-right then, the stock shock mount is not strong enough to support the coilovers, and would at least need reinforced.

to be honest, i wish i had used the money it took to do the lift i have now and done a SAS instead, i have no issues with my RCD but i would be happier with a solid axle.

Believe NicksterSVT has coilovers in the front of his lowered Edge.... I'm sure he's got a build thread on it.
