So planning on getting the spindle lift installed and everything in Jan. or Feb. But ran into a problem during my thinking process. I am hoping to go with 32s...but I think I may need to get some trimming done. So, after I get my spindles on, I can not put m stock wheels back on...how should I go about getting my truck to the tire place? Just have them wrap my new wheels first take them to my truck and then drive it back and have them check everything? Or am I just thinking too much and there is a simpler solution that I am just not seeing...

 

have the new rims and tires in the back of the truck when you have the spindles installed
new rims need new tires - any thing that fit with out a lift would look too small with the lift

 

You shouldn't have to trim at all, even being an XLT. Other than that do what Neil suggested.

 

XLT is no shorter than the bigger trucks. I have a 4WD XLT and it's as tall as any other 4WD version, I can fit 33s with a torsion bar twist too. And for 2WD, XLT is the same height as the others. Only difference is it has some more chrome thrown around.

um what brand spindles are you using? only the fabtech ones that dont alow stock wheels go with a procomp or the one's they sell on ebay doetch[sp?] those can run stock wheels. also you will have NO problem running 32x11.5. just look at glowins truck.



you have your info wrong sorry. 2WD XLT's are not as tall as 4x4 xlt's or edge models nor do they have torsion bar suspension. 2wd XLT's run coil springs and are a good 2" or more lower then a 4x4 torsion bar XLT or 2wd or 4x4 edge model.

thanks for the replies, i was going to do the install myself and save $200, I have my new wheels already, would it be safe to drive the 5 miles to the tire shop on my stock wheels, i plan on getting the doestch (however you spell it) and they say you cant use the stock wheels on them. but i dont know if thats totally true, what did all you guys with the doestch spindles do???

Wal-mart said 33"s would rub so they refused to install them...they fit fine. It's all about CYA. In this case I don't know so I'm not saying Zach is right, I'm just saying because a store says something doesn't necessarily make it true.

just out of curiosity, what is it that makes the stock wheels not fit on some of the new spindles?

 

Backspacing is too small.

They'll fit, but it'll start to shave part of the wheel off.
