This is my first post and I hope I’m posting in the right place. I have been hearing a loud freak from the drivers side front of my Ford Ranger and I’m trying to find out what’s causing it. I recently picked up new shocks because my old ones are really worn and I think they are causing the suspension to wear more quickly. I want to figure out what’s causing the creak so that I can try to fix it while I replace the shocks (I don’t want to duplicate my efforts). I think that I found the source of the creak, but I can’t figure out what the part is called. I am attaching a picture of the part. Does anybody know what this is? If you do know, do you know whether or not it an ambitious repair for a rookie?
We assume you have a Ranger
What year?
What engine size?
2WD or 4x4?
Circled part looks like the steering box
Lol I guess it would help if I included that information.
I have a 2004 Ford Ranger. It has a 4 cylinder 2.3 liter engine. It’s a 2WD pickup. I’ll take a look at steering boxes and see if they look like the part.
