What length shocks do I need?
Hello,
im having a tough time understanding measuring shocks and wheel travel required etc. so I thought I’d ask for my specific use case.
i have a 1993 ranger XLT 3.0
6” lift in the front
34x10.5 swampers
what size shock (extended and compressed) would you recommend???
the shocks on there now are 17” on flat ground.
the shocks are 12 compressed and 19 extended so I’m concerned there’s only 1” down travel.
my follow up question is what should the up and down travel be for this vehicle and off roading.
its not a DD. Primarily off-road with limited street use. Pretty hardcore wheeling.
thank you!

Can you post some pictures of your front suspension setup? Its 93, so I'm assuming its factory ttb and not a SAS? If so, best thing to do would be take off your existing shocks and then either drive onto something to make the suspension flex, or use a forklift or other type of equipment to get a measurement of both sides at full compression and both sides at full droop. That's how I did it with my truck after I did the SAS

Yea, it’s TTB
this is a dumb question but what’s stops the tires up and down travel?
should it be the shocks? Coils? Bump stops?
Also, can I just jack up the tire until another wheel comes off the ground for the uptravel?
shouldn't I be able to throw a jack under the gram to see the hang?
sorry I’m new to rangers.
