Bent steel rims
Bent steel rims
Been trying to track down this vibration in my truck for some time now. It started off as something you could feel in the seat - with no one in the passenger seat you could see the seat shaking rhythmically at speeds over 60. Tires were due for replacement so I had new ones installed at Discount, only to find the vibration had spread to the steering wheel. I took the truck back to Discount to see if they had missed a wheel weight or something, only to be told that two rims were bent. They must've been on the rear of the truck when I bought it, and when the new tires were installed, one of the bent steelies migrated to the front right, so both bent rims were on the passenger side of the vehicle.
This is kind of a bummer because the truck is from a salt-free state and all of the rims are super-clean with no rust, but it is what it is.
FIrst, I just want to say that I have ZERO interest in aftermarket rims. I like stock look, steelies and all. Up here in wisconsin, junkyard wheels are almost guaranteed to be rusty crap, so I'd prefer to avoid that.
Is it worth replacing the two bent rims with refurb ones like these:

Has anyone had experience with refurbs like this, and are they trustworthy? I don't want to drop a couple hundred bucks on wheels if there's a chance they've been in an accident and repaired.
Lastly, while I find some replacements, I moved the two bad rims to the back again to at least minimize the steering wheel shake. My hunch is the bent rims will eventually cause damage to wheel bearings and possibly the differential if I run them like this for long, is that accurate?
