You might want to check out Tirerack.com - occasionally, they have really awesome deals on tires that end up costing less, even after mounting and balancing locally, than geting the entire set locally. I got Goodyear Eagle F1-GS D3 tires from Tirerack for a car last summer and easily saved $100 over getting them locally and that is considering getting them mounted and balanced locally and shipping from Tirerack. You never know - just have to look, I got lucky and got an incredible deal back then.

 

The Xterrains? or is there some other xterrain named tire out now? I didnt like them not because of just their performance, but their quality was horrible. The sidewalls bubbled on all 4 tires and at paragon 3 out of the 4 tires ripped their sidewalls open.

 

yea, the xterrains are past their "prime". there is a new one out, xterrain m/t. mud terrain style tread, new xtra thick sidewall, and run very nicely on the streets.

yup. it runs the same sidewall as the cooper stt's. of course, thats because cooper produces them.

Go with some A/T's. I have driven alot of different stuff with alot of different tires and the BFG A/T's are my favorite!

 

xtreme, xterrain, who cares. the xterrain, xtreme a/t and m/t are all built from the same tire mold.

 

Ive put about 100k miles on a mix of BFG A/T's and M/T's in the past 3 years or so, and while I love the A/T's, they do suck in the mud (the just dont clear!). If you're doing mostly street driving, the AT's are great on dry & wet pavement. So while I love my MT's more, in your case Ill suggest AT's.

 

the at's are going to ride better on the road but if you can get m/ts for that price how can you pass that up.

 

well if you live in a dry area, like San diego, then A/T's should be fine for offroading also.

 

go to a merchants or ntb store when you buy them and get the road hazzard
its worth it it gives you tire rotation and balance and free flat repair and if they cant fix it it will cost you about 30 buck to replace
