re-balancing my 17" wheels
When I originally got my 17" Bullits and 255/50/17 tires mounted early in '06 the tire place used stick on wheel weights. I have noticed the steering wheel has become increasingly shaky (nothing major but I can notice it) over the past few weeks on the interstate at 65-70 mph and I'm wondering if I have lost one or two of the weights....one actually came off one day when I was washing the insides of the wheels and I re-attached it but it made me kind of leery of the stick on weights. I am going to try to get them all re-balanced next week and wondering if I should go with standard clip-on wheel weights especially if they can place them on the inside of the wheel instead of the outside.

The purpose of the stick-on ones inside is to replace the clip-on weights that are supposed to be on the outside. I got the stick-on weights too b/c I didn't wanna deface my new shiny rims and clip-on ones on the inside(since you can't see them). Yeah......I lost all but one of those damn stick-ons. Some of them had to be double stacked. Once I get the front end rebuid done on my truck, I'm getting a four wheel alignment and getting the wheels re-balanced with weights on the outside and inside. No stupid stick-on weights, they need to use like 10ton epoxy or something on those suckers. I have 8oz of ceramic dyna beads in each tire that 'balance on the go' and help ALOT but when I had all the weights the truck rode like a dream. Now she's getting a wobble around 65mph-70mph.

Yeah really! Hopefully they can get them balanced by only using clip-ons on the inside of the wheels. I had that done once before on another set of wheels on another vehicle but it was hard to talk the tire shop into it. I guess I will have to live with whatever they have to do though. I can live with a visible clip weight on the outside to save my front end from getting worn out pre-maturely from an out of balance wheel/tire.
