Icon13 Km2s on back order...thoughts on Big O XT

So as my title says, I just got a call and my 33's are back ordered to at least a month.. I have my body lift booked for 2 weeks.
The guy at Big O suggested that instead I should take a look at the Big O XT. He said they look similar and the siping is actually better lol

I looked at them, not a huge fan, but they are $50 cheaper per tire. Whats your guys thoughs?
Rock my body lift with 30" wheels for 3 weeks? ahaha

Of course he would try and sell you their brand. I would wait or look at another major brand like the Toyo MTs, Mickey Thompson MTZs, etc.

I wouldn't go with those Big O X/Ts. Stick with something with a good sidewall like the KM2 or Goodyear MTR/Kevlar or Micky Thompson MTZs.

The Big O's are actually a pretty good tire. The warranty they come with is next to none as well. I was gunna put them on my 150 but I was a couple hundred bucks short and needed tires yesterday, so I found something cheaper. Personally I would get the Big O's, everbody and the dog has bfg's.

Have you shopped other shops? I had Tires Plus in Mission put on tires for me. They did my exhaust as well. Good guys, good prices. They were almost $300 cheaper on BFG all terrains than everybody else in town. Worth a phone call at least

you know why everyone has them? its not because they are crap tires, its because they are some of the best on the market. i would trust a nationally known and proven name brand tire over some no name, never heard of tire. my life and the lives of my family and those around me on the road depend on my tires to do what they are supposed to. just my 2 pennys.

I say consider the Big O tires. That $200 price difference is not small change. Look at it this way....how long do you have to work to net $200, and is it worth it to get a bigger brand name.

I'm in the same sorta predicament...I want the $225 Wrangler Duratrac tires, but might get the Walmart only Wrangler Authority tire for $175 as I consider just how valuable that extra $200 might become.

I wasn't meaning that the BFG's are junk. And Big O's are not a no name tire. Just because you have never heard of or seen them before doesn't make them no name. .02

My thought is, you can spend a million dollars on a truck and it isn't going to do any good if the tires connecting it to the ground are crap.
I always avoided getting BFG tires because everyone had them, but my KM2s have been great. Smooth, quiet, great on wet pavement, snow/ice, sand, mud, blah blah blah. I have 25k miles on them now and still over half tread.
The big o XT looks like more of an A/T than a M/T as well. I say either wait it out, or get some Cooper STTs or Toyo M/Ts, etc. I've had some "no-name" tires from les schwab and stuff and I don't think I will ever again. Some of them worked okay but they ended up being rough and loud and getting lots of punctures.

The Big O xt is a pretty good tire. My dad has them on his F250.
They ride pretty good and they have lasted pretty good too. They are a little loud but the KM2's will be too. Like stated earlier, the warranty Big O has is probably close to the best if not the best out there. That being said I would go with the KM2's. It is a performance vs value decision I guess.

Its not really about the saving in money for me. if i wanted to save $200 i would stop gambling and drinking hahahaha. Im not sure about the tread life of the Big O's. I know the KM2s last a while so maybe me spending more on the KM2s will actually turn out to benifet me if the Big O's wear fast.

Someone else said their tires were back ordered then they got them 4 days later. This is kinda uplifting for me to hear. Who knows when they will be in. But i think its best just to stick with my original plan. When the body lift goes on I will be sure to post pictures of my "clown car" on pinner 30's for your enjoyment

I would def wait for the KM2's. I was told by a tire company they are on back order til mid May but I know someone with a commercial account through them and they found me a set and I got mine lastweek. So you might be able to get them sooner because they are getting them in.

I've used Big O tires on all my past vehicles. They have a great warranty, and you don't have to pay extra to get the free flat repair or replacement if it's too damaged. Also, Big O clearly posts in their stores the mileage rating or whatever... how long they will last. Look at the signs in the store, and compare... I would rock them, but I got a killer deal from a private seller on some BFG's. If you can stand to wait a while, then go for the BFG's. If you want a decent tire with a warranty for a good price... go with Big O

If the KM2 is the tire you want, then don't settle for anything less. If you settle for the Big O tires then you won't get what you're wanting and you'll think about it everytime you look at them. You'll be wishing you waited for the KM2 and you'll probably break down and get what you wanted in the first place before you get your moneys worth out of the Big Os. I did the same when I bought my 35s. I wanted MTZs but settled for the Maxxis bighorns because of the price difference.......well here I am with MTZs after I replaced the bighorns about halfway through their life because they weren't the tire I wanted to begin with.........which, might I add, cost way more than just buying the MTZs the first time around!

BFG is owned by michelin but is still a seperate entity from michelin. ive also never heard about blowout issues with them, they both BFG and michelin are some of the highest rated tires on the market.

X2 for Tires Plus. They did all the work on my truck after it left another shop that forgot to tighten the rear lug nuts. Long story short, needed a new brake drum, all new rear harware pads etc. This was on a saturday, and I was supposed to leave Sunday for a 400 km drive. He ended up pulling everything from his sons ranger that was sitting in peices in the shop. Got me on the road and going in less that 4 hrs.
Got both tires and rims for my truck. They didnt try to sell me anything I
didnt need eather

Hell of a group of guys IMO.
