I found a really good deal on some Rock Crawler wheels and I am thinking about gettting them. I want to get 15in rims but I am not sure on how wide of rim I should get. I want the same width as the stock rims are. Does anyone know what width that is? Then I am also wanting the same size tire as I had before only obvioisly the rim diameter would be smaller. My tire size right now is a 245x75R16. I do not know really what that means. I have tried using that conversion thing someone posted a while back but that didnt help. I believe they are somewhere around a 31" tire, but still not sure on the width. So basically what I need to know is what the stock rim width is on a 99 XLT 4x4, and what size tire a 245x75 is.

Stock width is 7" , go with the 8" wheel. Looks much better. Makes the tires look wider.


31" tires come stock on FX4 Lvl 2 trucks.
Dont know about yours.





EDIT: Just get a 15x8 rim, and 31" x 10.5/15 tire. You'll be fine.

 

Simple formula (internet calculators suck): First number * second number / 1270 + rim size. No one pays attention when I post this stuff -- they all want it done for them.

245x75x16

First number: 245
Second number: 75
Rim size: 16

245 * 75 = 18375
18375 / 1270 = 14.5 (rounded)
14.5 + 16 = 30.5

So your orignal tires were about 31" tall.

Get 31x10.5x15 tires as your closest fit, and get 15x8 rims. You will end up with a rim with more backspacing (that's just how they come standard now) and so your tires will stick out a bit more, but not so much that you'll mind, and it looks good.

 

anyone have some good pics of the front of their truck. I'd like to see how much farther they stick out. I'm getting ready to buy a set of AR Baja's and BFG A/T KO's...i'm prolly gonna stay stock size, but i'd like to see what the 15x8's look like

 

Go look at my Cardomain site (link in my signature) and go down the first page. The top pictures are with the new 35's, but the pics on the rocks and the other pics near the top are mostly with 31x10.5x15 and 15x8's with the lower backspacing.

 

Could I fit the 31x10.5 on my stock rim thats 7in wide, or do I need the 8in width?

Check out my cardomain its got lots of pics of how far the tires stick out. BTW I got 32/11.50/15 BFGs with 3.75"BS.
