i wouldn't buy retreads , spend alittle more and get the real thing , i dont think its safe

 

yea i was thinking the same thing. i dont know how i feel about them being up front.

 

I dont think I would put them on a DD.

 

i think they use retreads on 18wheelers but if something goes wrong they have another 17 to fall back on

Don't ever buy retreads. there aren't any good stories i've ever heard of people having great mileage out of them. i've only heard that they could blow out anywhere from day 1 to day 10.

 

Big trucks use retreads but not on the front steering wheels. Since everything else on them is dually then if one goes flat you got another one. I would not do it on a normal passenger vehicle. Sounds like death. Buddy of mine had retreads on his Dodge 2500 and it didnt turn out to well.

 

Retreads are just fine if you keep the air pressure correct. Most retreads that you see on the highway are due to improper inflation. Low tire pressure=heat=seperation.

 

IIRC New York banned retreads on passenger vehicles some years ago.

Retreads have come a LONG way in the last 10 years or so. They used to be pretty dangerous to run, but I'd run em nowadays. Technology and manufacturing processes have improved by leaps and bounds.

x1000. all the transports i work on run retreads on all tires except the steers. i never see the, seperating or peeling anymore unless the tire was flat and run on for a while.

 

when you add in the price of shipping you dont save any money

 

i wouldnt wanna use re-treads you could spend a little more and get a new tire,my dad put some on there expo a few years back and the tread come off doin 70 on the highway, it put a nice dent on the expo

 

I know a lot of guys using Treadwrights' on the Cherokee forums. Most have nothing but good things to say but I have no direct experience with them so take that as you may.

I know this is an old thread but I just ordered the 235/75/15 crawler M/T for my truck and i've read nothing but good things about these tires and I guess the way they make the tires are close to how normal tires are made but i cant wait to get them $350 shipped but they are on back order so it will be like 5 weeks they said but for that price im ok with it

i've looked into some lately as well. hard to ignore the price.

 

I will post pics once i get them im hoping maybe i'll get lucky and get them early but it doesnt matter since i cant drive right now but i wanted some aggressive tires since the ones i have now are 4 1/2 years old so i think its time :)
