Sorry...Another Tire Question

Ok I searched and could not find anything about this. I have 4 30x9.5x15 Cooper S/T's. I was wondering if they would fit on my single cab 97 Ranger Stepside 2x4. I can crank the t bars if needed. I just needed to know before i drive 160 miles to go pick them up. I have a 95 Nissan 4x4 that I rolled that they are currently on. Thanks in advance.

yes they will fit on your 4x2 (a 2x4 is a dimension of lumber) Ranger......

HOWEVER, you DO NOT have torsion bars on a '97.....torsion bars didn't come out on Rangers until '98....your front suspension is the TIB (Twin "I" Beam) setup....the only way to lift it a couple of inches is either coil spacers or leveling springs.......

there are members on here who are running 32x11.50x15's on their 4x2 Rangers....

Do you all know the pros and cons on the rubber spacers that go in the rungs of the springs?

most of them are polyurethene.....

there really isn't many pros/cons of them....the worst is you have to have a new allignment done when you install them....

Also I have heard that you have to take out the spring. I have heard that you can put one tire on a ramp and extend the spring and set them in there then back off.

i just did this on mine. Its fairly easy. Get your jack on the frame just infront of the door jam and you will get maximum spring extension. I wouldnt use the rubber ones because they are PITA to get in. Use the spacers that crank over with a 1/2 drive and they are much easier. Or you can use spacer brackets like me and get maximum extension. While using the brackets you must check the brackets and bolts weekly.

I was looking at the ones from autozone. They come with four in a pack. There about 2inches by 1 inch with little U shaped cut outs on the edges. Is that the type you used?

i used the metal brackets from advance auto as well as everyday coil spacers that i used the ratchet wrench to turn over. The rubber ones are almost impossible to get in so i returned mine and got the metal brackets. Look at the pic in the thread.

I saw that. I had some of those when I had my stang. When you flip them over it lowers the springs. It was way to hard to put on though.

ahh yes but they are easy if you use the ratchet spacers with the bracket. First stick the spacer in with the ratchet and then a second one two ciols up so ther is an exposed coil in the middle. Then jimmy the brackets in like i did in the picture. Its kinda confusing at first but just do one bolt at a time. Finally after the bolts are all tight remove the ratchet style spacer and the coil should remain extended while resting on the spacer. Its confusing but works.

Man that is confusing lol. I think I can do it. After those go on the truck should be level correct? With those the tires sould not be a problem right? How much lift did you gain? I couldnt really tell.

it actually gave me a prerunner look lol. not what i wanted but looks kool. i got about and 1.5 inches-2 inches the picture tells it all from the before and after. Your tires would be fine. Just make sure you skip the one coil just in case the spacer decides to come off then it will be trapped. I have had mine at full flex and the spacer not even move. Just make sure you extend it with the coil ratchet spacer first to get maximum lift as well as keep the bracket on.
