Tire Pressure Monitoring System Light Came On
The tire pressure monitoring system light on my dash came on earlier today when i was driving around saying that my tire pressure was low. I just put new wheels and tires on it yesterday so i was thinking thats what caused it to come on. I looked in my owners guide and it says replacing the factory wheels and tires can cause it to come on. So my question is how do i fix this so that it works properly again? Or will it only work with the factory wheels and tires?
Thats exactly what it is.
Ya, the sensors are attached to the factory wheels. If you want the tire pressure system to work properly, you would have to transfer the sensors over to your new wheels.
Or, you could just put a piece of black tape over the light, cheap and easy fix...

if they weren't on right when you left the tire shops the sensors should be there. and it would be seriously illegal for them to let you leave in a car with the tpms not working. did you check your tire pressure after the light came on?
yeah. where did you get them put on. i would just go by and have them take a look at it. they can check for signal from each of the sensors and reset them if needed. Bring up its a serious safety issue and you could probably get it dealt with pretty quick. it does take a couple minutes of driving for the sensors to reset though so keep that in mind
oh if you put them on yourself you would definitely have to go get the sensors switched over. personally i can keep track of my tire pressure, but you might want to make sure its not required for inspection before you do anything like pop out the light
You can remove them yourself, there's no law against that. A shop by federal law cannot remove them or bypass them for you.
You don't have the factory ones on, right? That's why your light's on... 'cause all 4 sensors are missing. I'm gonna ignore my alert light... not try to pull the bulb or anything just ignore it all together.
