I have had both, the ATZ's will end up sucking when driving in the rain over time and they suck in any kind of mud, but for everyday street driving they are good, not loud at all. The nitto's are good, great on the street and in the rain...mud, its ok...nothing special, about the same as a BFG AT.
The ATZ's are hands down the better looking tire when mounted though, the nitto's are deceptive when looking at them on-line, I think they look a lot better when mounted on a wide wheel...on a normal width wheel (factory wheel) they look like a factory tire.
Not sure about sand for the both of them, no sand around here.

I would recommend not going with the Terra Grappler. Absolutely terrible tire. I've had them on my work truck now for around 3000km. The truck is a 1 ton, flat deck with a lot of weight in the back (dont know how much but it needed 3 extra leafs per side to sit back at stock). Decent tire for pavement wet or dry and dry dirt/gravel, but in anything snotty, muddy, icy or snow my truck became a completely frustrating chore to drive. 4wd and keeping her pointed straight with the throttle not going over 40km/hr is an absolute blast...not.
The crappy stock chevy tires were waay better, especially in snow and ice.
Just my experience.

My dads 150 has like 50something thousand miles on his Terra Grapps, I like them and would recommend them. Actually was going get them to for the Ranger but they are lame and stopped making 15" wheel tires. But at the same time I also really love the ATZ's, as far as looks go the ATZ's are hands down the winner. I think I'd just get whatever you could get for cheapest if theres a big price gap.
