an older guy i work with is needing tire for his truck.. it has some 31's bfg at's with/ 15" american racing wheels.. im not sure of the width, anyways the guy is wanting a smoother riding tire.

would i 265/75/15 be right for the aftermarket wheels you think?

 

well there is no 265/75r15 tire, that is a 31" tire.

Well it all depends. Does he wants a street tire or a AT tire? Cause you don't get much smoother riding than a BFG AT.

 

well he wants a street tire. his are real knobby. i just told the guy i would try and help him out. he is about ready to retire in a year or so

 

BFG ATs dont ride smooth at all, you get a nice hum at low speeds, it was SO annoying on the explorer. im partial to bridgestone duelers, the REVO is a NICE tire and pretty quiet for an agressive tread. if hes going to use it primarily for the street, have him look at SUV tires. they arent for mud, but they are designed to be much quieter.

 

Bull S*** i never hear one bit of noice out of my A/t's own Cooper mudders if you think bfg is noicy. you cant even talk to some one next to you with coopers on the freeway. i dont hear one damn noice from my bfg's and they ride LOVELY!!!!



if you have a 15x8 rim I would go with a 32x11.5x15 BFG A/T you will love it.

 

it depends on what truck its on and tire size. my old 31 BFG ATs never made any noise. neither did my dads old set. his new set are noisy as ****. same size so i dunno. a heavier truck might be noiser than a lighter truck also.

 

If the rim is 8in wide I would get a 31x10.50x15R. As for the type of tire, if hes not going to be offroad at all I would get either a BFG Long Trail, or Rugged Trail. They are not as aggressive as the BFG AT's, and both are good all season tires that have a smooth ride.

we told you...you dont need metric size tires with 15" rims you can get standered sizes there usaully cheaper too. GET a 31x10.5x15 or personally i would buy 32x11.5x15 THESE are real tire sizes....

metric or standard sizing should not be a factor

i understand what you guys are saying, and appreciate the help but the brand of tires he wants only come in metric sizes, 245,255,265..

i dont know how to calculate different tire sizes

 

They do not make the metric tires in a 15in rim. You have to get a 30, 31, 32.. ect

 

Link yes a 265/75 R15 will fit, just looked at one site real quick and continental, goodyear, yokohama and private label all make tires that size...
