As the 31" BFG AT tires that came with my Ranger started getting closer to being worn out I began to think about what to replace them with. I have a set of 32" Procomp MT tires for off-road and I decided I wanted to get something primarily for the pavement.

Initially I decided on Michelin 31-10.5-15 LTX AT tires. They are barely what I consider an AT tire but still have some off-road capability. When it came time to buy them I found out they are being discontinued and are being replace by the AT2. It is not suppose to be available until October and it is slightly smaller in diameter and width.

I searched a little more and settled on the Michelin 31-10.5x15 LTX MS. It has what I consider an aggresive street tread. I was concerned that I would not like the looks of the tire but I was more concerned with driveablity and handling characteristics on pavement and the reviews looked good on those features.

When I picked up the truck after getting the MS tires mounted, I was not disappointed at all. In fact I was very pleased. They by no means have the go anywhere look but the tread is agressive enough that they go well with the truck. As soon as I got in the truck and drove it, I knew I made the right choice. They feel like they were made for my Ranger and they ride very well. I have always felt AT tires are a compromise for road and off-road, a good one but a compromise non-the-less. I now have a situation where I have no compromise for pavement or off-road. Unfortunately, it takes two sets of tires to do this.

i agree, my A/T's do good on pavement and good offroad. your tires will do great on pavement.

 

I have the same tires in a 255/70/16 and I love them. they are great in the snow and the dirt. I have a 2WD truck and they do everything I need them to! As long as I don't need an AT tire I will never buy anything other than the LTX M/S. 10/10 in my book....

I forgot to include before that I have racked up more than 300,000 miles on 31" BFG AT tires on the last three trucks I have owned so I do know what they are capable of. I think they are great tires and thought I would never own any other tire on a truck.

Even I can change given enough time.


BRENSRANGER, all tires suck on ice unless they have studs or spikes in them.

 

We run all Michelin LTX M/S on our work trucks we have 25 1 ton duramax diesels, you will not be dissapointed in that tire!

 

Love Michelins! Best tire made, but they have always been lacking a true AT tire. I buy Michelin first and BFG's second.
