question about procomp tires

back when i had my bronco, the x-terras had just come onto the scene and got excellent reviews. i was curious if they are still manufactured or if there is a tire that would be just as equal in road manners and pricing.

They are still making them for sure, the closest thing to them I have always thought was mickey thompson's baja claw..the x-terrains seem to be just a milder version of those.

Oh yes they still make them. The Baja Claw is a good suggestion for a comparable tire, how about the new BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2s?

Mickey Thompson, Dick Cepek, and ProComp tires are all manufactured by Cooper Tire here in the USA. They're all still available.

I have a set of Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's for offroading, and BFG AT/KO's for street. Both sets are 35".

I hate xterrains, I hated them. 3 out of 4 had bubbled sidewalls, They wore like crap and didnt even have the traction on the trail to make up for those traits.

Cooper had problems with a lot of tires. They had a bad batch of carcasses at one time that crossed many, many brands. Those problems have been solved and it shouldn't be an issue -- but I don't like the Xterrains either.

I hated my x-terrains also. Cupped tread wear, they didn't clean very well for an aggressive tire and the directional tread pattern keeps you from rotating from one side to the other.

if you want a directional tire i would suggest the Baja Claws over the X Terrains, theres probably a reason you see a lot more of them

Keep in mind Cooper builds them to customers specifications. If ProComp ain't asking for Cooper's best -- they ain't getting it.

On the other hand, the Mickey Thompson and Dick Cepek brands are owned by Cooper. I really like Mickey Thompson tires. The Claws are awesome but I'd be careful in the rain is all.
