motor

Hello, this is my first time posting here. I have a motor and tranny out of a 2001 ranger and I was wondering what years this motor would fit into? Thanks for all of your knowledge that you can share.

Ford changed over from the 2.5L lima to the 2.3 Duratec during the 2nd half of that year. That said, which motor is it? -Mike-

as far as my knowledge goes, if you find a good deal on a 2001+ Ranger with a blown engine, swap the motor into that, should be a direct fit. As far as other Fords from 2000 and before, not sure if the 2.3 duratec will fit without modification. In otherwords, if you find a 99 Ranger say with a blown engine, then you try and swap the motor into that, I'm saying I'm not sure what all you need to do to make it fit.

Or you can have some fun with it, hop up the motor, intake, header, port & polish the head, programmer or whatever you want to do with it and build a street legal dune buggy lol! -Mike-

That 2.3 is a great engine (I should know, I have one). More power and better fuel economy.

Yeah, I think swapping into an older truck would take work, but would be an interesting project. Especially into an older 4x4 w/ a manual tranfer case and hubs.

Ford IS Mazda, and Mercury. It's all the same, minus some body panel differences. The Ranger and Mazda B-series share more parts than not.

I have a 2.5 Lima for sale. It has 15K on the forged pistons and rings, less than 100 miles on the new gaskets (head-up), and I'll even throw the 4-speed auto tranny in there to make it a package deal.
