Ford camshaft synchronizer..

Ok ok ok , I'm brand new to this forum, but. here's a little back story to my problems.

I blew my engine about two weeks before i left for basic training. So, i got to come home on leave two weeks halfway through basic training for christmas and new years. This gave me enough time to save enough money to buy a new engine, And i stripped my old engine of the parts still working and put it on the new engine.
Got it all looking pretty. Anyhow i graduated and went to job training, (AIT). spent 1600 figured i would rebuild my transmission so the drivetrain was practically new. So, i got a new camshaft synchronizer and i researched how to install it and such , and i got it in, but I'm not too sure it will fire up, it fit in and sat like it should against the block.

Anyone out here got any experience with setting those in properly? Also any advice on completely reassembling engine, tranny, wiring harness etc. Greatly appreciated. sorry if it was too long.

CPS(cam position sensor) and synchronizer are there to fine tune injectors and spark timing, can't cause a "no start"

CKP(crank position) sensor signal on the crank pulley starts spark and fuel injectors, so can cause a "no start"

All 4-stroke engines have have TWO Top Dead Centers(TDC) for #1 cylinder
To time CPS you need to have crank set at #1 Compression stroke TDC.

remove #1 spark plug and rotate engine manually until you feel compression building in #1 just use your finger in #1 spark plug hole, you will feel pressure building, or use compression gauge.
When compression starts to build up the next TDC mark that aligns with 0deg will be the correct TDC to install CPS synchro.

So you're saying if it doesn't crank over, To remove the #1 spark plug, And rotate engine manually until pressure builds and it's top dead? Then thats where the gears on the synchronizer will line with the camshaft?

Yes, you need to have #1 at Compression stroke TDC before you can install and time CPS/synchro.

There are two TDC for #1
Compression stroke TDC
