93 Ranger 3.0 disaster

Mine is a 3.0five speed Range with approx. 150k miles. She was losing power but never overheated. Parked and began the search for reason. Engine was cool and checked radiator was low. Added water and more water and more water and then I saw the smoke from tail pipe and then water was pouring out of exhaust pipe where it has a hole. I have never seen water pour out of exhaust pipe like that. I began to remove heads. but now I think I should have done a compression check to see which cylinder was pumping water. I did find the number one cylinder with light surface rust from sitting water.
My question is: The heads are removed and the head gasket seems not blown and visually heads do not look like any cracks. The water pouring out the exhaust could it be from cracked block?

Is there a way to check for cracked block at this stage of the rebuild ?

I am a newbie and all the info I use to repair is found online and from personal experiences.
HELP ! and Thanks for your time
Pete

Not likely

A cracked block would more likely put water into the oil giving it a milky appearance. Either the head gasket fault isn't readily apparent or a small crack in the head that opens more when hot. Have the heads checked my magnaflux method.

Chk for bent valves, leading to cracked seats or guides.
