2002 4.0L exhaust questions
My son has the 2002 Ranger 4.0L 4x4 that we are in the process of fixing up for him...
He wants to go bigger (a lift and tires) and before we do, I told him that he needs to get the exhaust fixed. ( the tail pipe was bent forward like it was backed into something and it melted the mud flap) (Bought it this way) So we are looking at mufflers, we want to open up the exhaust and increase the air, so that he will maximize his performance when he lifts and gets new tires. Here in is the problem, we are not looking to "Jazz" up the sound on a V6 to make it sound like the V8 that it is not. (I have heard others that just sound like a tractor) Also don't want that hi-pitch tuner import car sound... Is there a good muffler that will open his exhaust to the max outlet while still providing back pressure for a stock engine that you would suggest? And we were looking at the K&N 57/77 series CAI... Which has performed better the the magnaflow or the flowmaster? I thin it was the super 44 that i saw online... or are these all show and no go kinda of muffs? I am not trying to rub anyone the wrong way if you have one or the other, i am just a dad that wants to get my kid the better product for what he will have use for... ( this is an used truck that has been beat up not a show truck)
Thanks...
