I'd say at least 175K. without too many issues.

I have 130K on my Xploder right now and it was used and abused, but it keeps on ticking. I blew up my 91 at 180K. I will admit I rarely see any ove 200K but maybe they are just too new. Over at the Impala sight under 200K is low mileage.

03 4.0L here with 85k miles on it.

no major failures yet. runs good. Was much better before I had some overheating issue unrelated to the engine.

Starts everytime!

My friend has a 98 Eploder with 145,000 miles that his mom drove for most of it and it's alittle on the lazy side but it doesn't burn any oil or anythign liek that and always starts the first time.

That is true, My 2000 can barely get up to 55 by the end of a freeway ramp! OHV motors suck!

My 99 OHV has 115,000 on it and still runs great.

My tranny will go long before my engine goes. Haha.... my motor stills purrs like a kitten. It does a damn fine job and moving the 33's.

I have 82k on mine and it runs like a champ. And this is after beating the crap out of it but I am very strict on maintenance.

If this includes OHV engines, a guy at work still drives a '91 4x4 STX with the 4.0/auto. He drives 120 miles round trip to work 5-6 days a week. It has way on the far side of 300,000 miles but the odometer quit about halfway through the 200,000 mile range several years ago. The trans has been replaced and is on its way out again but the engine still runs fairly well. Suprisingly enough the A/C still works, cruise control doesn't. The engine doesn't smoke, but is getting tired. He said hes never done anything to it except change the oil and air filter and such once in awhile. The truck is getting pretty rusty too. He had to replace both the front spring mounts on the frame because they rusted through. I don't think it has ever been washed either...looks pretty grudgy.

my 1993 OHV 4.0L had almost 140k on it man it ran like brand new couldnt ask for better...

seen alot of the 01+ SOHC go up in the 180k before they start showing issues and usually its the timing chain

I had about 72-75k on my 01. Turned the truck upside down 3 times and it still ran. Sold the motor and tranny to someone to replace their 4 cyl and it's still tickin'. The SOHC is a pretty tough motor IMO.

My 94 I bought in may from the original owner has 170,000 on it and last month I towed my 98 4x4 back with it at 75+ mph. The owner switched to amsoil when it was new. The valves were ticking when cold when I bought it so I changed the oil and added a can of restore and that went away. I'd drive it anywhere.

Icon5 Starting Fresh with Old Stuff:

New member here that has just picked up a 94 Supercab 4.0L with 152,000 on the odometer.

The engine runs nearly as quietly as the 4.6L in my Lincoln TC at 149,000 miles, so I guess the V6 Cologne will go a bit further.

I'm more concerned with the A4LD tranny than the engine....gotta wonder just how much more I can get out of it before it stutters and dies. At the moment the tran works very well.

My 99 had 147K on the clock when I got her. The only reason the motor went was the previous owner did not change the timing belt. Other than some head damage, the old motor was decent. It was just more cost effective for me to buy a new motor. i have 167K on her now.

I'm sorry but this thread isn't exactly inspiring confidence in me, Does anyone here have one over the 200K mark? Hell the SOHC motor is going on 7 years in these trucks someone here has to have driven one that far. If they can't make it to 200K nowadays I would complain to ford.

John/Bryan,

The SOHC has been in the Ranger since 2001, for someone to have 200K or more, they would have to drive there 2001 28,571.42 miles per year to have those kind of miles by now (2007). I drive that much, but my truck is only 3 years old....

Edit: I know they have been in the Exploder longer, but no one on this site really has one...

my cousin has a 93 stx (fx4 lvl 2 by todays standards) with POWER SEATS FACTORY everything still works, its got 8inches of lift, and 250,000+ miles on it, and he hauls a 3,000lbs trailer with it all the time.... and he hasnt had any major issues. the only probs hes had, had to do with his lift, like the carrier bearings, other than that, it runs great.

I don't drive much more than normal for a Minnesotan and I do 45K a year. 28K should be more than normal. Plus not too many OHV with over 200K either. I blew one up at 180K and the one in my 2000 if it hits 150K I would be shocked. I had 90K on my 2001 when I traded it in. The 04 had 45K ish when I sold it, but that truck also was in the shop more than the 01 forcing me to drive other vehicles to work.
