Need help with fan clutch

So I have been trying to track down an intermittant squeek/chirp mostly on startup. It sounded like a tensioner issue but after replacing that it still is there but not as much. Anyway when my truck is cold the fan is loud and stays engaged untill 2000-2200 rpm. It is starting to sound like a GM 4.3L. Once the engine is warm the fan settles down. Is this normal or is my fan clutch starting to go? The fan still spins smoothly by hand.

I just read on another forum that it might be the fluid pooling up at the bottom and on cold days it can take a while to re distribute. So I don't think it is bad or bad enough to replace yet. Still trying to track down the squeek though.

My fan hangs up when first starting if it's cold out , but also settles after a quarter mile or so. My other trucks are the same so I consider it normal.

No afer spending $45 on the tensioner at autozone I thought I would see if that dd the trick. IDK how long this serpentine stuff lasts but I replaced everything 3.5 yrs ago and it seems like the tensioner was going bad. The idler will be my next step. I thought about just replacing the bearing but after seeing anoher thread I will just buy the whole pully and bolt: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...=275589&page=1

Edit: My tensioner moved alot on startup and had belt rub marks on the tensioner assembly so I thought that the fan might be freezing up to cause it to move so much.

Engine off and cold grab the fan it should spin freely.

Engine off and hot the fan should hard to spin.

From my experience somewhere after 100k they start dying,

mine was doing that after it threw the belt and i replaced the belt tensioner. i later changed the harmonic balancer after talking with my mechanic and he said the squeal on startup was the harmonic balance. check to see if the pulley is moving back on the harmonic balancer (the pulley coming from the crankshaft). it should be in line with the other pulleys. if the pulley slid back you need a new harmonic balancer.
