Programmers
So as far as programmers go - i know most, if not all, of the members on here would recommend that i go with an x cal 2 or the x cal 3 right? well i probably would but.... i am getting a superchips cortex programmer only because i have a connection and am getting it for a steal.
My question is, has anyone used one or had experience with a superchips in their ranger? If so, how did you like it?

do you have an average or even a guess on how much gain? like this superchips i have is supposed to give me 13.8Hp and 19.6ft/lb of torque. i dunno what im actually getting but all i know is it a hell of a lot more than i had. this thing made a huge difference.
I raced a Jeep Cherokee 4.0 manual, which before would have kicked my ***. well this time i kicked his. we were tied in first gear but when i went to second i just took off.

And on 93shell I've got the curves (charts actually) tweaked based on knock sensor activity. Lets just say that in a few areas.. my timing for 93 octane is doubled. The increase in part throttle power is amazing. This ranger runs much stronger than a lot of the V8 1970s cars I grew up with.
btw, don't get caught up in power numbers. Making peak numbers on a dyno only get you into the ball park. And more importantly you don't spend much time at all at WOT and at those rpms. Daily drivers spend 99% of the time at lower rpms and part throttle. IMO thats far more important for the tune to make power and for the auto tranny to have just the right shift feel and TQ convertor lock up points.
