Time for a 302!!

Ok so the ranger is on its last leg so i figure what better time to do a 302 swap..im pulling the motor and tranny out of the truck tommarow so itll be ready when i find a 5.0..

Its an '88 ranger xlt , M5 , swb.Im wanting to do a carb'd 302 if possble , with a 5-speed tranny , although i have been told you cant do a 5-speed and also heard its very heard , but ive seen a stick in one or two before. What all will i need to do this? any cutting and welding required? Upgraded fuel pump? I dont know anything really about how its done so any help would be appreciated!!

P.S. i Hope this thread is in the right place.

I know that there's some welding involved. As far as engine mounts and stuff go. As for cutting? There's bound to be SOMETHING that needs welding. Probably a custom drive shaft, too. Good luck! I want to put a 302 in my truck, but it ain't broken... yet.

I put the whole chuck morris thing there cause i thought it was funny ahaha..Arab alabama is real..

so their will be some cutting and welding? from what ive heard its a fairly easy job , but idk , guess we'll see what happens.im really worried about the manual tranny im wanting to go with but ive seen a few with them so ill try my best to do that..

And no i dont believe down here they would reallycare about the whole emmisions crap..i mean if its like pouring out a huge black cloud from the exhaust then yea but other than that no..

Me and a bud finally manhandled that 2.3 beast out WITH the tranny attached..With no cherry picker or anything at that , just by hand..it sucked ..anyways , i cleaned the engine bay a tad. figured i share. I kinda thought about going with a 351w , but ive heard good and bad things..power is good , fitment is bad haha..anyways

ALSO , what sucks is we first attempted to pull the engine out with my buds F-150....

Bein the smart guy he is he hooked the chain to the motor and ran it OVER the radiator support(see figure below)..yea..so um..i think im gonna have to hit up a junkyard for one now cause it bent the living crap out of it and now of course the hood doesnt shut and the grille doesnt line up..

Well..i can explan what went through my head AFTER he just about pulled my front end off..

Like i said , being the smart person he is he ran the chain over the radiator support..i was inside of the truck preparing to hold the brakes while he was doing the "chaining" lol..We should have removed the grille and ran it straight through but idk if that would have worked either..

Yea i guess it was both of our faults..but he did the chaining ..lol

It was a stupid idea.I dont know if it was just me being tired and not being able to think or what. But we got it out is all that matters.I think i may pulled like 5 muscles in my back doing it too.
