A Pillar Speakers??

So. Haven't visited here in a while, issues with the charging system have been fixed for those who were following my carpc project, anyway I've been driving my Mazda a lot lately, and I'm just not happy with the level of volume the stereo currently has to offer, I was thinking about making some molded pods in the A pillars, but was curious to see if anyone has seen/done anything larger then a tweeter mounted in there, [Not looking for low end just to clarify, thats a planned project I already have in mind for a later date] I'd love to see some a pillar pod pictures of anything up to a 6.5" driver just to get some visual ideas before I make something funky looking on an impulse lol.

It seems like that would get in the way.

I don't know if the A pillars are secured well enough the the A frame, unless you screw them directly to the A frame

Yeah they would be secured behind the speakers to hide the mounting, I have been toying with the idea of putting a pair of 5.25s in each pilar, I know I can do it easily, make it look good, and sound great I just really want to see some examples if there was any already done.eu

a 4" would probably be your best size for it.

What about 6.75s in the Doors or kick panels and tweeters in the A-Pillars… ?

You got me thinking; I was going to put the tweeters on the door but now, maybe the A-Pillars.

Does the Cross-Over Network in a Component Speaker System have a lot of heat ?

Yeah, I dont want any bunkity "supertweeters" as i like to listen to music, as opposed to terrible shrill radiating out of those things without the presence of a crossover, so.. not happening...ever..., I just dont have the want to make kick panel pods, of add anything onto the doors, I dont drive this truck all that much, but when i do, i like to have some loud beats, and the 4 5x7's just arent up to par with the level i'd like. I played around with a 5.25 I had laying around yesterday, its actually a lot bigger then i expected to be lol, so .. I'm leaning towards two 4" coaxials in each pilar, with the grilles I think it will look ok with out looking tooo out of place, and the polk's im looking at are only about 90 or so bucks for 4, cant really beat that.

if you don't have an amp on the 5x7's I would start with that. feed them some power and use the amp crossover to cut some lower frequencies, that will make them plenty loud. use a sub to produce the lower notes.

It was a day and night difference from when my 5x7's were running off the head unit to when I added the amp. You'd be surprised.

Way ahead of you guys, already running a 4ch amp, is 2ohm stereo stable running at 180 watts per channel, im running the 5x7s off the front channels, so im wanting another 4 speakers to up the volume level clearly, still if anyones seen any pics, please do share, ive already ordered the 2 pairs of polk db401s, I should be able to start next weekend once they arrive, but pics.. Do share if any found of a pillar sound.

Dude does sick work. I have begun to strive to do all finished work as clean and well though out as his. Unbelievable stuff in there.

Planning and patience are your best friends when it comes to making outstanding work, you can accomplish a lot with a very little, and I like to show that in all of my builds. but those setups are absolutely ballin, out of curiosity, have you by chance seen my netbook build thread floating around here?

It will be nice to get back into it now that all the little "issues" have been situated.

If you care to check it out.

That is wicked mang! I have no desire to have that in my truck but can appreciate the time and skills it takes to make something like that happen. Props to you friend.

Yeah, it was kind of just a chance of opportunity, broke the laptop to the point it wasnt good anymore as a laptop, had the truck.. had a free weekend lol, it wouldn't be good for everyone but I have a carpc in each of my trucks, just my hobby i guess and it lets me keep all my nerdcore shenanigans in one place, plus.. it just cool haha.

I think if I had the equipment at my disposal like you happened to, I definitely would.

And definitely VERY cool.

Maybe one day I'll do this in my mustang.
