Pulling Head (DOHC) Camshaft Align

DOHC 2.3L-- according to the manual, I should turn the engine to TDC before removing the camshafts.... I apparently don't have a bar long enough to turn the flywhee, or there is something else besides blown head gasket. ok to just mark the camshafts and flywheel pulley where they are ?

thanks... first post here... top end rebuild due to blow head... any step-by-step here for DOHC rebuild..I'll look...tks

I'm ready to pull my head too. Same engine. Nobody jumps in to answer these questions though. Maybe not too many mechanics here?
