2005 Ranger Drivetrain Problems.... Pictures... Any idea what this may be?
I am quite sure that the rear leak is the rear wheel seal. The pinion seal in the rear was leaking, as well as the front pinion seal, but I am quite confident that they stopped, and it was only due to the universals being bad and causing a chatter.
This weekend I am planning on doing the rear wheel seals, I might as well do both of them if I'm getting into this, as well as the rear brakes since they are in dire need of replacement (55k miles).
Should I replace anything else in the rear differental since I already will have it open?
When I say the rear wheel seal, I am talking the furthest out one that is infrotn of the wheel bearings.
------
In addition to this, when I was looking under my truck... I caught a oily glimmer from the sun front the front axle :(
I included multiple pictures since I just cannot get a great one since its so tight under there and its on a gravel driveway.
The pictures are of the front passanger side portion of the axle. I believe it is leaking before the CV boot? This is something I am clueless about, so I included pictures. The oily substance seems some what thick, but more caked on. Now it has been in recently for service and nothing was mentioned about this. The fluid has the consistancy of motor oil, but maybe a bit thicker... like a SAE 30 or 50
Please if anyone can give me some insight on what may be causing these problems, I would be open ears.
----
Also should I change the wheel bearings in the rear since I will be doing the seals and brakes so they are all done? is there a inner and outter seal? If there is a inner one, should this be replaced as well?
I am going to be using this truck as a company work truck, and it has to be reliable and cannot be breaking down... it will be towing every day.

That is to my photobucket slideshow. There are alot of pictures of this, I do not want to bog down the server. If you guys want I will post them on here though. They are bad pictures since the trucks in a gravel driveway and im just a bit too bit to twist around under there.

I was told that at my last service that the wheel seal was leaking, I have yet to pull teh drum off, but i'm going to bank on that it really is bad.
My brakes go to the floor almost, like my brakes are severly worn. I know the front ones were done 5k miles ago since I did them myself. I suppose I will have to look at them tomorrow.
To change this seal, is there any good resources?
