Need info on A5/auto tranny in ?01+ Rangers
Sorry guys for my lack of knowledge on this truck. I'm trying to find more and more. Heres what I'm looking for.
A link, website or pdf of these auto 5speed trannys. What is the correct designation for them? 5R55E??? I believe is what I have found. I would like to also find out all the gear ratio's for the tranny. Stock stall speed, diameter and lock up capabilities also(speed, clutches, etc.)
Also what transfer case do we have? Or are there several of them that depend on years? What ratio's are there in the high and low ranges.
What diff in the front? I have found out that at least the '06s have a Dana 35, 27spline hybrid. Has the been used for a while or new?
Thanks all

5R55E
1st 2.47
2nd 1.85 (2.47 x 0.75)
3rd 1.47
4th 1.00
5th 0.75 (1.00 x 0.75)
The 5R55E uses a three speed Simpson planetary gearset for 1st, 3rd and 4th plus an overdrive (0.75) used to create 2nd and 5th.
Stall speed of the Ranger 5R55E is listed in the 2002 S/M as 2557~3032 RPM.
The torque converter clutch may be applied in gear 2 and up.

i have ordered my gears for a D35 standard rotation along with the install kits.
its all getting installed this Sunday, and i know from everyone else i have asked that what Twoplusone has said is correct.

Hmm, I guess so. The TRS page confused me. I wish there was a way to make our axle stronger.

The 98+ Ranger front diff is not the 35/28 hybrid. It is a true D35 but an oddball version that is unique to the Ranger. It takes the standard D35 ring and pinion but the differential is shorter than other D35's. Because of the limited application (Ranger only), the aftermarket for this diff is almost non-existent. From what I've heard, the only upgrade for it is the Powertrax locker.
