Icon5 Whirring noise after complete stop

Hello, all first time poster. My son has a 2006 ranger 4X4 standard shift he called me tonight and said when he comes to a stop his truck is pulling to the right and he hears a whirring noise like a little motor is spinning fast then stopping. I was thinking throw out bearing but that wouldn't make sense with it pulling to the right.

So I thought maybe someone here could point us in the right direction. His is away at college so I am hoping to get some insight so he doesn't get a mechanic that starts replacing stuff until he gets it right. Oh its a V6 with 130,000 miles on it if that helps.
