Whats going on? Are these LED tails going to burn out anyday now? I did not do any research about the failure rate. I drive this truck a few times a month. You guys got me scared now, should I turn my lights on or hit my brakes? I will just leave it in the garage so I dont ruin my new tails.

The problem is the LEDs in that circuit run with very little headroom. This is why they fail if you have sudden voltage spikes that cause rushes of current.
I'm building a set of LED tail lights with a few hundred CREE P4's. They run with 70ma, and I'm using a voltage regulator to protect them.
