Chrome tips

I got chrome tips installed on my exhaust last Wed. and already they are rusting inside. Is this bad or will it rust through? My only concern is having a big ol hole come through one of them and having to get new ones re-welded. Is there anything I can spray on them that won't burn off like an undercoating of some sort?

Any help would be appreciated.

So any high-temperature paint or coating should work? I'm thinking of getting a can of the hi-temp rustoleum and unloading it in each tip. Do you guys think that would work? Or how hot do exhaust gases get?

you could also try turtle wax chrome polish. it took the rust out of my friends tips but it always comes back. id go ahead and invest in some stainless tips. i dont regret it.

I should reword this... I don't care if they rust on the outside. I can polish them and I keep them clean so they won't rust from the outside. I'm talking about rusting from the inside out.

To repeat. I don't want to save the outsides with stuff, they won't rust on the outsides. But the insides will. I want to spray stuff in there. I got some hi-temp rustoleum to spray in there and it looks as if it will work. It adds a layer of paint that will keep the water from staying in the pipes and rusting them out.

I don't want stainless tips because after a year they seem to cloud and they never look as nice as chrome.

I live in Wisconsin and this exhaust system will only live at most for 5 years. The worst part is I live in a decent sized city so every day in the winter you get salt on everything and it will rust. Come spring, you clear the rust off and clean everything up.

sorry for the confusion there. around here (with no salt use) chrome rusts through pretty quickly and i have seen tips rust through from the outside. seems impossible but ive seen it happen.
