3500 lbs??

So I went to get some paving brick for a lanscaping project. I asked how much all this would weigh when I purchased it. Guy said about 2000 lbs. I said ok, I've done that before. Going a little farther but if I take it slow shouldn't be a problem.

Got it all loaded and took a look. Thought the tires were bulging pretty good. I normally run 40 psi, but was thinking I should have bumped it to 50.

Was told to go back in the office as they rung me up wrong. Was taking care of that and the guys says, "oh, by the way, I was wrong there's an extra 1500 lbs I forgot.

Got home just fine though. Tires were pretty hot. Glad I only had to go about 20 miles or so. Didn't affect the engine at all. I don't think it even realized it was hauling the weight. :)

its not their responsibilty to make sure your truck can handle the load. That would be your fault.

nah, they asked if I wanted them to take some off.

I know it's not great for it, but I bought it for what it was built to do (and then some ha) This is only the second time it's been loaded to the stops and now that I'm done I doubt it will ever be loaded that much again.

Another loaded pic..

Its not a question of if the engine or axle can handle the load, its your brakes. I had 2000 lbs of pavers in the bed of my truck and locked up and drug my rear tires down a hill because my front discs couldn't stop the truck. I didnt even break 20mph.

Wouldn't overloading the truck, void the warranty ??

So did the truck come back to normal after it was unloaded ??

It's a 99 with 98,000 miles. Warranty is long gone. haha

got up to 50 mph and didn't seem to have any braking issues. It brakes pretty good loaded or unloaded....

Good...glad you only went 20 miles...

I think it's funny actually...

I like the pic too, btw...

We all know Ford has the rear of the Rangers sitting higher under a payload...but I don't think they were expecting THAT!

LOL

There are four areas that you'll "tax" by overloading. And two of the four you can pretty much control by not pushing it hard.

1) Engine load = coolant and oil temps
2) Tranny load = tranny oil temp
3) Spring rates exceeded = de-arched springs
4) Axle bearings = brinelling of the raceways.. or quickly overheating them.

Engine and tranny aren't really that big of deal IMO because he only went 20 miles, but I agree other than that...
