most nerve racking moment in ranger
Last night I was headed home from Boston on 93 north. I could see a haze about 1/4 mile up. As soon as I hit that haze it was a down pour of hard snow visibility was greatly reduced. Someone had cut me off so I backed out. Bad Idea I naturally accelerated and my rear came right around. 2 360s across 4 lanes of traffic I said "no" to the guard rail I wad heading straight for I punched the gas and avoided the rail but I was facing the wrong way directly infront of me was a state trooper..... HOW BAD COULD THAT HAVE GONE? I consider my self lucky I had a gut feeling if the tires caught when I was spinning and sliding across the road if the tires ever caught I was going over. Post pics later of the scene on my phone

The trooper put his lights on so i could get all straighten out. it was so slick i had to use 4wd to get going again. About the deer i do the same thing. i could only imagine how loud it was outside my truck when i nailed the gas to get away from the guard rail f**kin 6k rpm. the funny thing ABS didn't kick on what so ever.

Glad you're OK.
I had a similar situation back in December on 95 in Seabrook. I had been driving up 495 during flurries and heavy wind, and the road was just wet. Shortly after I got on 95 North, a gust of wind hit me and my rear went right out. Turns out 95 was a sheet of black ice. I steered into it, but when the truck swung back, it never stopped, and I ended up spinning around two complete times before slowing down enough to straighten out. Luckily there was no one around, because I ended up using all four lanes to get under control.
Glad you're OK.

hey bud i'm gald your ok, i had a similar experience, i went around a turn, not even very fast i was going the posted advisory speed limit for the turn and i guess took the turn a little wider than usual and hydro planed on the wet road caught my self a few times then pulled a 360 and a 180 and slid backwards into a peach orchard right between a row of trees while missing a drainage ditch by two feet, and i've had my bad luck with deer to, i was taking my girl friend out on black Friday it as foggy as hell and while going up this big hill there was a deer standing right in the middle of the road i couldn't even see it until i was on top of it, luckily i put new tires on the previous day or it could of been worse, not sure how the deer didn't know i was coming since my truck is lit the hell up and its loud too, i think a buck was chasing after it since it was it was during the rut, got some good deer baloney out of it though.

Spinning uncontrollably is the most terrifying thing in vehicles. I've never hit ice in my truck to cause me to slide or spin but I'm sure it will happen eventually. I have ditched into the median before though but that was because someone else spun out in front of me. Going 30-40 MPH on a snow covered highway surrounded by cars and having to cut it into the snow filled median was scary ****.
